Physis™ – Naturally Sourced Tissue, Cryopreserved For Optimal Results

Discover how Physis™ can be integrated in your surgical procedure using natural tissue from the umbilical cord — safely and ethically sourced.

What Is Physis™?

Physis™ is a safe, natural human tissue allograft derived from the umbilical cord. Application is during a variety of surgical procedures to supplement or replace damaged or lost tissue.

This tissue, called Wharton’s Jelly, is an extracellular matrix (ECM) scaffold that comes cryofrozen, preserving essential elements in native human placental tissue.

Common Questions

  1. Is it safe?
Yes. Physis™ is processed under strict safety standards and regulated by the FDA (section 361 of the Public Health Service Act).
  2. Where does it come from?
It’s derived from healthy umbilical cords donated by consenting mothers after full-term, planned C-section deliveries.
  3. What should I expect from Physis™?
Physis™ can be used during a surgical procedure to help support your recovery. It may be implanted to replace lost or damaged tissue, depending on your procedure.

Your doctor will let you know how Physis™ fits into your healing journey.

For Healthcare Professionals

Physis Graft™ Allograft

Physis Graft allografts are processed from donated human umbilical cords  to preserve the natural characteristics and structural integrity of Wharton’s  Jelly (WJ). Staying within the primary purpose of WJ in the umbilical cord,  Physis allograft’s homologous use stays consistent when there is a need to  implant human allograft to fill, seal, or replace lost/damaged tissue. WJ’s  connective tissue preserves the natural integrity of the human body and  provides essential components in tissue regeneration. 1,2,3,4

• The WJ is a mucoid connective matrix with high durability and  pliability1

• Wharton’s jelly is abundant in extracellular matrix, composed of :

  • Glycosaminoglycans (GAG’s) • Hyaluronic acid
  • Hyaluronan Complexes • Heavy Chain 1 of inter alpha  inhibitor
  • Platelet-derived growth  factor (PDGF)
  • FGF
  • IGF-I
  • Microvesicles (MVs)  • Collagen types I, III, and V • Cytokines1,2
